'OUT' THE OUT-TRAY

Try this tip: Remove your out-tray and give it off and let there be no out-tray on your table.  Whatever paper comes in put it on the table. Do not leave that piece of paper lying in the out-tray with nobody lifting it.  Once you have finished the job, ensure that the paper leaves by whatever means you can think off.   You may go and give it in person or send it through somebody or use your brain to find out a solution.  Try it out for a week and you will realise how fast things move.

A friend of mine also removed the in-tray.  He ensured that whatever paper came in landed on his table and whatever left went out of his table without a transitory stoppage.  Removing the in-tray and the out-tray will bring in a lot of discipline in your handling the paper work.

However, you should ensure that you have implemented your other habits such as handling papers only once, getting into a discipline of filing papers promptly, answering letters promptly etc.

Try it and you will rediscover yourself.
